Upper Whanganui River Images

Exploring the upper Whanganui River, and the Manganui o te Ao River, should be on every landscape photographers ‘bucket list’!  It has taken me a while to get there, but with the help of Ken and Josephine Haworth who run Whanganui River Adventures out of Pipiriki, I finally made it.  My objective had been to capture the steep bush gorges and the  river itself – ideally with some mist hanging around…  By hiring the jet boat it is possible to see parts of this beautiful river, and the streams and smaller rivers that run into it, that you simply would never otherwise experience.  Canoe is also possible – but photography from a moving canoe is even more difficult than from a jet boat!  As it turned out the low river mist did not eventuate but the grey day with mist hanging around the bush did make for some good images.  With Ken’s expert knowledge and jet boat skills it was all possible – see Recent Images for some of the magic…
